CHESTERMERE – Emily Khoo is an energetic 10 year old that has high aspirations of becoming a superstar singer, dancer, piano player and beauty queen. This is probably not too different from many other 10 year olds except Emily has already had a great start in pursuing her future career. Emily competed in the Patti Falconer “Little Miss Calgary 2012 Show” in Chestermere last year and was the first runner up. She also was involved with the Young Canadians Junior Singers at the Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show this year for the entire ten day event. For a 10 year old that’s a lot of dedicated hard work when you include rehearsals and nightly performances but she says it’s worth it when you get on stage. She pulled through and is ready and raring to go again; in fact she can’t get enough of it and comes alive when in the spotlight. She wanted to share her latest big news, in that she has qualified to be in the Face Of Europe Beauty Contest. The Beauty Contest will take place in Disneyland Paris (France), November 18th to 23rd. This St. Gabriel Grade 6 student will have to miss some school to participate in the contest but that won’t likely be a problem as Emily also maintains almost all straight A’s in school along with working hard on all of her other activities.
Although Emily was born in Canada, her mother was born in Budapest, Hungary and this allows Emily to enter the contest.
The Face Of Europe Beauty Contest supports two charities, Rainbow Child Foundation and Headway East Kent, and actively encourage their contestants to help raise funds and awareness for these causes. In 2011, £7000 ($13,000) was raised for the charities by Face Of Europe contestants and supporters
Headway is a charity set up to give help and support to people affected by brain injury and Rainbow Child Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps underprivileged children all over the world in a variety of ways. Emily will be helping to support these two charities in a walk around the lake. The walk-athon event will be held on September 23, 2012.
