How much love does your faith reflect

What would it take for you to do something radical for Jesus? Not “build-a-compound-and-put-up-watch-towers” radical but something against all the wisdom of the world. Jesus said to a rich young ruler, “One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor and you will have treasure in Heaven; then come, follow me.” Jesus said what? Sell all that you have? Give it away? Then what?!
It’s easy to write off the hard things Jesus said as being “for that guy, not for me.” But what if he is saying that to you? What would it take for you to put all your faith in God, not just for salvation, but for this life too?
We like to keep God at a safe distance when the questions get scary. And then we live our faith like God is a magic leprechaun able to grant the occasional wish but only if you manage to catch him. God is not a munchkin; he is the almighty Creator of all things and the One who holds every atom together preventing the collapse of the entire known and unknown Universe.
Is that big enough to manage your life?
Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and rewards those who seek him.” Do you see that? It is IMPOSSIBLE to please God without faith. What’s even more incredible is that if you flip your perspective then it’s POSSIBLE to please God. Not just please him but receive many rich rewards for seeking him. God is a God who loves to give generously.
Faith pleases God. Why?
Well, the level of faith that you have in God is a reflection of your belief about his love for you. If you believe someone loves you passionately and unconditionally then you will have confidence that they will keep their promises to you. If you don’t believe the person loves you then you can’t fully trust them – especially with your life. When you take great steps of faith it shows God that you believe and trust in his great love for you.
Let me say it this way…the size of your faith-steps are a direct correlation to your belief in God’s love for you. So what does that look like for you? When you look at the amount of faith you put in God each day, how much love does it reflect?
Ponder this Scripture out of Romans chapter 8: “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
You will never correctly estimate the size of God’s love for you and the proof was at the Cross. God subjugated himself and came down in the form of a man to reveal his great love by dying for the sins of the world. He died for us even when we hated him and right now the gift of salvation is in his hand nail-pierced hand, free for the taking. If you know Jesus as Lord and Savior then trust him with your life even if it means selling everything to follow him. You can trust him. He will never break a promise. You can trust him. Go on an adventure with God and see what your life can be!
I’m starting my journey soon…
