The Chestermere Curling Club hosted their Annual Men’s Open Bonspiel November 13th to 16th, 2014. There were 20 teams entered with about half of the teams from Chestermere and half from Calgary and surrounding area clubs. The men enjoyed some keen ice for the duration of the bonspiel. The Saturday evening banquet featured a very tasty meal catered by The Botsford Deli out of Langdon! Thanks to some extra fundraising by organizer Dale Zawyrucha, our club was able to hand out $3600 worth of prize money. It was the Janke rink who took the “A” event with Wolfgang Janke at the Skip position, Third- George Lorencz, Second- Gregg Shields and Lead- Randy Palaniuk. The “B” Event Winners were Skip- Colin Stroeder, Third – Don Owchar, Second – Brian Wagner and Lead – Dave Mayer. “C” Event Winners were Skip – Bruce Dalsto, Third – Ron Forth, Second – Les Goldstrom, and Lead – Steve Cunningham. And the “D” Event Winners were Skip – Fred Luyten, Third – Blaine Coupal, Second – Dale Zawyrucha and Lead – Randy Frazer. Great fun was had by all!
Make sure to get your teams registered early for the upcoming Chestermere/Indus Modified Mixed Bonspiel held January 27th to Feb 1st. Only the Skip and the Third need to be of a different gender, games will be played at both Indus and Chestermere Rinks. Email us at bonspiels@chestermerecurling.com to register your team.
