Taking a stand against bullies! Thank you Chestermere Langdon Oilmen’s Association!!

When a group of motorcycle riding men say they’re going for a ‘ride’, one might picture a wide open highway with nothing but blue sky and the road ahead. But, on this particular Saturday morning, it meant participating in the 2nd annual Chestermere Langdon Oilmen’s Bicycle Ride Against Bullies.
The Chestermere Langdon Oilmen’s Association (CLOA) is a remarkable group that is incredibly passionate about giving back to their community and supporting causes near and dear to their hearts. CLOA President, Alex Halat, is no stranger to going above and beyond for his community and when he aligns himself with others that share his passion for giving, events like the bike ride against bullies are always a huge success!
On Saturday June 27th, the parking lot outside Sharp Edge Barbershop quickly filled with cyclists and motorcyclists. With only a $5 registration fee, over $400 was raised – but the members of CLOA said that wasn’t quite enough so they rounded up the funds and donated addition money to get the total raised to $1000. All funds raised go to Synergy to be used in their efforts and programs for anti-bullying.
At promptly 10am this impressive group made their way from Sharp Edge Barber Shop, volunteers ensuring that intersections were blocked and safe, and the group finished their ride at the Chestermere Regional Recreation Centre where participants were greeted with hotdogs, juice, water and donuts generously donated from Tim Hortons.
It is community collaborations like this that keep programs and initiative awareness alive and well in Chestermere. Thanks to all involved for a great event!
