Land Use Bylaw amendment tabled by council

Chestermere City Council tabled an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw at the regular meeting of council Oct. 3.
Council is looking for more clarity in regards to lake lot areas.
“The land around the lake is a complex topic between landowners, The City and the WID (Western Irrigation District),” said Mayor Patricia Matthews.
Councilors felt that questions about the shoreline portion of lakeside properties were not answered satisfactorily by staff at the council meeting.
“We all want to ensure that the area is properly identified so that people have full enjoyment of their property and that the expectations of the use of the lake are clear,” she said.
The bylaw amendment has been tabled while city staff gather more information. A date for the Land Use Bylaw to be brought back to council has not been set.
