12 riders representing Sweet Talk Stables of Chestermere competed at the Spruce Meadows May Classic this past week. As evidenced in the pictures, the riders, under the direction of their coaches, Joyce Enders and Hope Enders surpassed all expectations bringing home ribbons and coolers from all divisions entered. All the girls work very hard to achieve this level of success spending numerous hours at the stables not just riding but grooming, maintaining equipment and “mucking” out stalls. As stated by head coach Joyce Enders, “these girls work very hard to compete at these events and deserve every ribbon they win”. [...]

I have to confess when my 7 year old son begged me to sign him up for football I was worried, although I have always loved the sport I had a hard time envisioning my boy taking on some big burly linebacker and it ending up OK!! But when both his dad and him were keen to join the Chestermere Chiefs I signed us all up. What I was pleasantly surprised to learn was that this “Ultimate Team Sport” would be one of the most inspiring things I’ve been a part of. First every piece of equipment except shoes was [...]

CHESTERMERE – Once again District 3 is holding its Level 1/2 Clinic, using the National Umpire Certification Program, to prepare you for another season umpiring in Little League and at other levels in Calgary. Why be an umpire? It keeps you active in baseball, you get to give something back to the game, you have “The Best Seat in the House”, you get to meet some great people and it is a great part-time Spring/Summer employment. Chestermere Rocky View Little League (CRVLL) is looking for umpires for the 2013 Season. Qualified umpires are an important part of insuring safety, competitiveness, [...]

Would you believe that Chestermere Minor Hockey has not had a Provincial Champion amongst its teams in 13 years? The year 2000 proved to be the year for the Atom C team in Chestermere. We all know that 13 is seen as an unlucky number but the Atom 1 team has just proven that this superstition is just that, a superstition! After winning a playdown against Brooks, The Chestermere Laker Atom 1 team earned the chance to represent Hockey Alberta’s Zone 6 in the Alberta Atom AA Minor Provincial tournament held in Leduc this past weekend, March 15-17.
