Lyalta news – harvest, potluck dinner and hypnotist show

Posted on 29 September 2012

Harvest is finished now, that is what was left in some areas to combine as the big white combine got there first. The weather held out for the most part. Hope things went great for the farmers. Some city folks don’t understand the farming concept, they just go to the store to get their groceries but don’t stop to think where they came from in the first place. Good thing there is Agri Days for the kids to learn these things. A big Thank You goes out to the members and non members who helped out with our Casino the [...]

August news from Lyalta

Posted on 23 August 2012

Boy, was that ever some kind of storm. I have never ever saw one quite like that before, with the wind so strong and the clouds so low. Visibility, was something else, trees shredded and knocked down, gardens completely done in and then there is the crops in some areas that you are not sure what they were, barley or wheat flattened. The hail in some areas was bigger than we got at our place, it was only pea size but was laying on the ground in some places like snow. The Lyalta Community Club is very thankful for the [...]

Lyalta news: picnic, junior high awards night

Posted on 15 June 2012

Those that attended the family picnic had a fun time. Games were played but the water toss and fight was the hit of the day. Concession went great with reasonable prices. Overall it was great success with a little mix-up of the time starting. Hopefully this will become an annual event. I couldn’t be there as I went to my granddaughter in law to be bridal shower in Drumheller. Condolences go to Kevin and Sharla Desjardins and family with the recent passing of Kevin’s Grandmother in Laurier, Manitoba. Kevin flew to Manitoba to attend the funeral and got to visit [...]

Halloween, grandmas and snow in Lyalta

Posted on 09 November 2011

Well winter hit us with a little skiff of snow but reports are we are to get more of it. As one gets older, winter is one thing they don’t want to think about. The Gary Fjellgaard show had a smaller crowd but everyone that was there sure enjoyed themselves even getting them to do an encore of a couple songs. The door prize winner of a lovely bouquet of flowers donated by Strathmore Florist was Louise Davis. The 50/50 winner was Maxine Bartelen. Delicious lunch was served after the show. Great costumes showed up for the Kids Halloween Party. [...]
