The little town that could won’t be left behind! If big sister Calgary can have an annual Historic Week, then so can we! Thanks to the Town of Chestermere for allowing the Chestermere Historic Foundation some space in the lobby to celebrate the first ever ‘Historic Chestermere Week’. There was a display of artifacts and information about the history of Chestermere in the Town Hall from July 30th through to August 3rd, 2012. CHESTERMERE– Gearheads and car nuts galore gathered at the recreation centre on Saturday for this year’s annual Show ‘n’ Shine. Although early morning storm clouds may’ve kept some car owners parked, over 300 revved-up revellers came to show off their rides. “I think there would’ve been twice as many people if we had blue skies to start the morning, but we were just so lucky the rain held off,” said event organizer Elaine Smart. CHESTERMERE– Over two decades ago, Bill Steeves was on his way to work when he spotted a 1953 GMC 9300 truck sitting on an acreage on the outskirts of town. The vehicle immediately caught his eye. CHESTERMERE – Mike and Elaine Smart have organized the Chestermere Car Show for nine years.
