CHESTERMERE – The Chestermere Community Services are hosting a BIKE SMART Program for kids aged 4 to 12 on July 28th at the Chestermere Town Hall parking lot. This is a 1 day program from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM put on by The Calgary Safety Council. Sign up is limited to just 25 kids – and the cost is a mere $15 for the first child and $10 for each sibling. Each child must bring his/her own bike and helmet. Call Angela to register at 403-207-7079.

CHESTERMERE – When a community comes together only good things are bound to happen. It all began when Devonna Nagy donated a small plot of land on her acreage for others to get together and till the soil so to speak. Devonna believed young families and single mothers often don’t have the space or resources to have a garden so she thought they would jump at the chance to grow their own vegetables. Looking for summer activities and a way to express your creative side? This summer the Town of Chestermere Community Services is launching an arts pilot program called Ceramix. Ceramix is a clay bisque painting program with classes for a variety of age groups including kids, youth, and seniors. Along with registered classes, there are also drop-in dates available at Town Hall for all residents. CHESTERMERE – This year, National Volunteer Appreciation week is from April 15 to 21, and the town of Chestermere is celebrating by selecting the volunteers of the year, as well as hosting a family breakfast. Chestermere Community Services has celebrated the week in previous years, but for 2012 they decided to create an award for outstanding volunteers in the community. CHESTERMERE – This year, National Volunteer Appreciation week is from April 15 to 21. Although Chestermere Community Services has celebrated the week in previous years, for 2012 they decided to create an award for outstanding volunteers in the community. CHESTERMERE – The case of the missing sign is still a mystery to the members of Chestermere Community Services. Last winter, their sign, which they used to advertise local programs and events, disappeared from the side of Highway 1A on the west side of town. CHESTERMERE – Although the Chestermere charity group Christmas with Dignity is named after the upcoming holiday, the organization helps local residents in need year round. Christmas with Dignity only really lived up to its name in 2007, the year it started.
