CHESTERMERE – With the sun shining and some warm weather gracing Alberta, it is likely that not many people have winter sports on the brain. However, the members of the Chestermere Curling Club are starting to gear up for the season, as registration begins as early as Sept. 6. It is a big year for the club, which had around 230 members last year, as they are celebrating their 25th year. The final junior curling bonspiel of the season is fast approaching on March 27, and Forth, who teaches the juniors in Chestermere, said that this was the most popular year for youth curling yet. “I taught more kids this year than I ever have,” she said. “Probably thanks to John Morris and the Olympics last year. “I started with 65, and a few dropped off because of things like soccer and hockey that interfered, and ended up with 55 total.” Forth said she had 50 kids in her program last season, the youngest players being just seven years old, and [...]

Final tournament for 2010/2011 curling season wrapped up this month By Ashton Faulkner CHESTERMERE – The Chestermere Ladies Open closed out a season of successful bonspiels for the all of the rinks out of Chestermere.
