Chestermere RCMP Detachment Welcomes A New Auxiliary Constable

During the afternoon of May 8, 2013 a swearing in ceremony at the Chestermere RCMP Detachment was conducted welcoming Jenn WARD as the most recent Chestermere RCMP Auxiliary Constable. This is a special year with the RCMP auxiliary constable program celebrating its 50th year in existence. In 1963, the RCMP began its Auxiliary Constable Program to enhance community policing and crime prevention initiatives. Today, there are more than 2,000 Auxiliary Constables nation-wide. Some accompany regular members on patrol or assist with special events and crowd control, while others give safety presentations, fingerprint children, co-ordinate neighborhood watches, or perform bike patrols. Chestermere Emergency Services Contest Begins

The Chestermere RCMP, in partnership with the Chestermere Fire Service, have begun the ’Emergency Services Card’ collection contest.  This is the second time this event has been held with the initial competition in 2011 being an overwhelming success. The contest provides an opportunity for the community’s youth to interact with and to get to know the town’s emergency responders in non-emergency situations. It is open to students in Grades 3 to Grade 6 at the participating schools in Chestermere. Marihuana Grow Op Search Warrant Execution

On March 7, 2013 at approximately 4:30 p.m. the Chestermere RCMP executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search Warrant at a residence located in the Lavender Link area of Chestermere, Alberta.  This search warrant was for the production of marihuana/possession of marihuana for the purpose of trafficking.  
The search warrant was carried out by members of the Chestermere RCMP Detachment assisted by members of the combined forces Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) Calgary based Green Team South.

Power Outage Resulting From a Hit and Run Collision

At approximately midnight on January 9, 2013 the electrical power supply was disrupted to the majority of residences and businesses on the east side of Chestermere. The power disruption lasted for approximately three hours. It was soon determined there was a motor vehicle collision to a fence and a power pole at a residence near the intersection of East Chestermere Drive and Merganser Drive East which was the cause of the power outage. With the holiday season just around the corner it is timely to remind Chestermere residents of the importance of safe practices and decisions relating to alcohol consumption and driving. There has been recent changes to the laws regarding the allowed alcohol tolerances, driver suspensions and vehicle seizures. The intent of these legislative changes is to assist with public safety. Late Night Report of a man in Chestermere Lake

On September 28, 2012 a short time before 1:00 a.m. an off duty Chestermere firefighter reported to the Chestermere Fire Department that an unknown male was observed in Chestermere Lake. He was noted in the lake and it was not known if he came out. The acting Fire Captain relayed this information to the Chestermere RCMP. Chestermere RCMP and Chestermere Fire Dept. personnel responded immediately to John Peake Park and began a search together along the shore line. Theft of Truck, Trailer and Bobcat

Sometime between 6:00 p.m. Monday September 17, 2012 and 6:30 a.m. Tuesday September 18, 2012 there was a theft of a truck, trailer and bobcat from a location on Range Road 240 south of the canal in Chestermere, Alberta. The truck is a white 2002 Ford F650 with Alberta licence plate 78K408. The attached trailer is a yellow 2004 Diamond Roadclipper with Alberta licence plate T77528. Dog Bite injury in the West Creek area

On June 13, 2012 at approximately 8:50 p.m. the Chestermere RCMP along with the Chestermere Fire Department and EMS personnel attended to a residence in the West Creek area of Chestermere responding to a dog bite occurrence. It was learned the family dog became aggressive and bit a 11 year old boy above his left eye. The dog, a 7 and half year old mixed breed was restrained in the backyard while the victim received on scene medical treatment. Motor vehicle Collision on Highway 1A at Rainbow Road

On May 23, 2012 at approximately 2:40 p.m. Chestermere RCMP along with the Chestermere Fire Department and Alberta EMS attended to a motor vehicle collision which occurred along highway 1A at the intersection with Rainbow Road in Chestermere, Alberta. A small brown Pontiac Sunfire heading eastbound on highway 1A collided with a red Dodge minivan heading westbound on highway 1A. The minivan was turning south on to Rainbow Road at the time of the collision.
