CHESTERMERE – A fierce matchup between the Chestermere Wannabe’s mens hockey team versus members of the local RCMP and fire department resulted in some fundraising for a good cause. The game, which was held on Saturday Jan. 14 as part of the Chestermere Winter Festival, raised $600 to go toward five-year-old Owen, a local boy who was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of cancer back in December.

Marian Gmitter of the Wannabe’s said that they had previously donated $1,000 to Owen’s cause, and decided to also donate that game’s proceeds to him simply because it was for a great cause.

CHESTERMERE – Although this year’s Winter Festival was at risk for going down in history as the mildest winter celebration ever, the temperatures dipped down just enough on Saturday, Jan. 14 for the community to get into the spirit of the season. CHESTERMERE – Although it doesn’t feel much like winter these days, the community will still come together for a day of family fun at the Chestermere Winter Festival this Saturday, Jan. 14.
