Fall Fair Gymkhana Results

The Fun Country Riders of Strathmore presented the Gymkhana at the Chestermere Fair on Saturday Sept. 17. The excellent facilities at the Chestermere Recreation complex hosted all the events and the riders took home beautiful rosette ribbons.  Thanks to all the organizers including Debbie Myslicki for a great job! CHESTERMERE – The country fair parade will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 17, and BMO Bank of Montreal is hoping that local kids will get on their bikes and participate rather than just watch the parade roll by. To spice things up, there will be prizes offered for the best-dressed sets of wheels. Participants can decorate in whatever theme they choose. Friday, September 16 The Rec Centre’s “Teen Blast” will take place once again on the Friday evening from 6 to 11 p.m. The concession will be open, and there will be laser tag as well as a guitar hero tournament and a battle of the bands, sponsored by First Fire Productions. CHESTERMERE – Every year, organizers of the Chestermere Fall Fair hope to see an increase in entires for the Red Ribbon Competition. In order to up the entries and get people more interested in the competition, the Chestermere Agricultural Society has began hosting annual Preserving Our Skills workshops. Sitting down and trying to teach someone how to carve a wooden duck or paint a fabulous landscape would be tedious, but anyone can bake if they really want to. CHESTERMERE – The Chestermere Country Fair Red Ribbon Committee has come up with a delicious and creative way to support the local food bank. On Sept. 12, baking enthusiasts will be gathering at the recreation centre to produce a lineup of pies that will be auctioned off at the Fall Fair on Sept. 17. The event is open to both experienced pie-makers and those who would simply like to learn how to make a crusty masterpiece as well as support a good cause. Once again, it will be LEGO® mania at the Chestermere Country Fair Red Ribbon Competition, Sept 16th 17th 2011! Not only are there LEGO categories for Pre-school to Grade 4, there is an open category for Youth and the highly contested Craig Lawrence Memorial Lego Competition. It was Craig’s love of building LEGO, particularly emergency vehicles, which spurred the Red Ribbon to begin this competition in 2008, the year in which Craig, loved and well known Town Planner and Volunteer Firefighter was tragically killed in a car accident. The Chestermere Country Fair Red Ribbon is not all about pies, pickles, and paintings! The Horticulture Section is as much a traditional as the Handicrafts and Baking. It celebrates the green thumbs of our community. Our high altitude prairie plain poses a great challenge to grow anything. The Red Ribbon especially honours those whose tricks of the trade pay off.
