The regular meeting of Chestermere’s town council met on July 20 at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at the town’s municipal office. The public portion of the meeting lasted approximately three hours and 55 minutes. All of the councillors and mayor Patricia Matthews were in attendance.
There were no notable changes to the meeting’s agenda or business arising from the July 4 meeting minutes.

CHESTERMERE– Law enforcement officials have seized over 1074 marijuana plants, in what’s been Chestermere’s largest reported grow-op this year. A home in Parkmere Green was raided on July-14 by members of the local RCMP detachment as well as officers from the Calgary Police Service and RCMP joint task force known as the “Green Team South.” The search revealed a three-stage soil-based hydroponic grow op in the basement. The plants have an estimated street value exceeding $1.3-million.

The information provided by the Mayor Matthews in her message appears to be very general and brief. I believe that a public forum and/or an open house should be held to inform all residents of the possible ramifications of a dredging project before anyone can make an educated survey vote. By involving all taxpayers from the outset with adequate information will lend more credence to this survey.
