CARLYLE – Cecile Rose (nee Gratton)

August 30, 1913 – January 11, 2011

Cecile Carlyle, a resident at Prince of Peace Manor in Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, January 11 at the age of 97 years.
Cecile was born August 30, 1913 in Therian, AB.
Cecile is survived by her daughter Nancy Chernos and her sons-in-law, Rodney Chernos and James McDonald. She leaves five granddaughters, Nikole Krentz (Dick), Joanne Varga (Jimmy), Robin Chernos-MacLeod (Jay), Heather and Katherine McDonald. She will also be lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren, Jayden, Maddison, Jada, Raegan and Rodney.
Cecile is also survived by her sister Jeanne Gough; and brothers, Romeo and Ed (Terry) Gratton; sisters-in-law, Rose and Yvonne Gratton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased in 1969 by her husband Robert and in 2007 by her daughter Jane Carlyle. Brothers, Leo and Felix; and sisters, Theresa and Juliette also predeceased her.
Cecile was actively involved in Chestermere community activities and was a lifetime member of the Chestermere Whitecappers. She enjoyed reading, bowling, playing bridge, knitting and watching the Flames and Stampeders games. Cecile was a positive mentor providing guidance and support. We will remember Cecile saying “I’ll pray for you” and we know she always did.
Cecile’s family would like to thank all of the staff at the Prince of Peace Manor who helped make her final days comfortable.
Funeral Services was held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (1525 – 45th Street S.E., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will follow.
