ELLISON, Jack Merle Harley (John)

JackElliston

April 5th, 1943 – August 14, 2018.

John Ellison passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and daughters, after a brief stay in the Rosedale Hospice in Calgary, Alberta on August 14, 2018, at the age of 75.

John was born in Windsor, Ontario and moved west early in his life. He met his wife, Donna, in Edmonton and moved to Calgary in 1980. John was an owner/operator for Turbo for over 25 years and an owner/operator for Esso for over ten years. In his later years, John was a salesman for The Home Depot, earning national sales awards as a home appliance salesman.

A resident of Chestermere for 30 years, John enjoyed the outdoors. In his early years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. John loved music; he will best be remembered for his singing voice, especially his rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.”

John was someone who would give the shirt off his back to help someone less fortunate. He taught his children to be charitable, to always treat others with kindness, and to be forgiving. John was compassionate and loved his family tremendously.

John is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Donna; his daughter Shawn (Clayton); daughter Jackie (Andrew); and grandchildren Oakley, Harley, and Dani. At John’s request, no services will be held. Those wishing to express their condolences may do so by donating to the Rosedale Hospice in remembrance of John by visiting www.hospicecalgary.ca/page/donate.
