Henry – James Heron Henry of Chestermere, Alberta, formerly of Duchess, Alberta, passed away in Calgary on Tuesday March 10th, 2026 at the age of 86 years.
Jim was born on June 30th, 1939 to James and Jennie Henry in Bassano, Alberta. Jim is survived by his loving partner, Agnes Kunkel; his son Warren (Janet) Henry and granddaughters, Kytt and Koda Henry. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Jennie Henry.
Jim grew up in Duchess and received his schooling at the Duchess School. Working with his father, he learned carpentry and became skilled at woodworking. From building houses to cabinetry, Jim’s work was meticulous. Jim was a partner of Martin Chrysler for many years, until his retirement.
Jim had a lot of interests. Over the years he enjoyed outdoor adventures that included motorbiking and snowmobiling, trips hunting moose and bear, with his son Warren. He was also a competitive trapshooter, curler and had a love of golf. Jim was a long-time member of Lakeside Greens in Chestermere and cherished the many friendships he made there. Jim will be remembered for his kindness towards everyone along with his sharp wit and dry humor.
In accordance with his wishes, a private family internment, will be held at the Patricia Cemetery, Patricia, Alberta. The family wishes to thank the staff at Skypointe Hospice for their care and compassion during his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made by cheque directly to AgeCare SkyPointe Hospice, 179 Skyview Circle NE, Calgary, Ab, T3N 0Y7.
