OFFEN, George Verne

October 16, 1932 – March 31, 2012
George Verne Offen of Chestermere Alberta passed away on March 31, 2012. Born in Markham Ontario to William George Offen of Cedar Grove, Ontario and Mina Isabel Offen (nee Miller) of Port Perry, Ontario. Survived by brother, Glenn (Mary) Offen; sisters: Dianne Kemp and Wendy Carr and former wife, Mary Ellen Offen. Verne also leaves behind daughters: Debbie Edge (former son in law Rob) and Kathy Smith (son in law Bob); his grandson and closest companion, Kiel Edge. A small gathering at the Mountain View Funeral Home was held on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 to commemorate Verne’s life. Verne spent the last several weeks of his life at the Agapé Hospice in Calgary, where he received exceptional care and attention. Donations to the hospice would best serve his memory (1302-8 Avenue NW, Calgary, Alberta, T2N 1B8).
