MLA update October 25

Hello Chestermere-Strathmore readers.

This past week has been very emotional for many reasons. We felt so privileged to spend time with many of you throughout the riding as we celebrated the opening of the Chestermere Memorial Walk that Keigan Davies inspired. This beautiful expression of the poppy will help us to remember those who fought for us every day, not just on those days dedicated to remembrance, such as Armistice day or special days that honour Veterans. Thank you to our new Mayor and Council, and those who served in the last Council for their work on this project, and a special shout out to Christa Hiebert and the Davies family for having the vision and bringing it to life. Thank you to John Kittler as well for providing sound.

We delivered 300 roses this week to various small businesses around the constituency. We had so many great conversations and touched base with many friends as we worked through storefronts and free-standing businesses. We apologize if we missed anyone and please send us an email with your business and address at Chestermere.Strathmore@assembly.ab.ca. We hope to grow our list!

We were in Indus at the Indus arena on the weekend, and if you like onion rings, you need to check out the concession! Delicious! We also popped into Langdon’s Pumpkin’s Pancakes and Popcorn event at the field house! Even in the downpour, pumpkins were purchased, and money was raised for the Foodbank. Thanks to the REPS for putting this on!

I know that things have been tough; in fact, that is an understatement. Visiting with so many of you this past week was such a pleasure. We tried many new restaurants, from White Elephant and La Diperie in Chestermere to Il Bricco and Prairie Grounds in Langdon. I also outfitted Elvis, our 12-year-old puppy, at Designer Mutts. I did some Christmas shopping at several stores in Langdon and Strathmore—Lil Hoots boutique, Sole Discretion, and too many others to mention. We would love to come to your place of business and visit, so please invite us to come for a visit, especially if we missed you with our flower delivery.

Happy Small Business week, everyone!
