CHESTERMERE – The last day to register for another season of Crushers baseball is coming up fast, as the deadline is March 30.

The league, which was established last season, had almost 200 kids sign up, so coaches and players are hoping for that many or more again this season.

Crushers baseball offers T-ball for kids ages four to six, Coach Pitch for kids who are seven and eight, Minors for those who are nine and 10, as well as Majors for 11 and 12 and Juniors for 13 and 14.

Indoor Spring Training takes place for the month of April to get Minor to Junior players ready for the season. Teaching for Tomorrow Instructional Clinics for coaches and Managers will take place at the Chestermere Rec Centre in the main hall on March 27 and 28. These clinics are taught by Chestermere resident and Little League Canada head Instructor Al Herback.

Learning the Game, for ages four to six, will run on Tuesday March 27,
Playing the Game for ages seven to 12 will be on Wednesday March 28, with registration at 5:30 and the clinic running from 6 to 10 p.m.

The Junior Program clinic for 13 and 14-year-old players will take place on April 15, with registration at 12:30 and the clinic running from 1 to 5 p.m.
There will also be an umpire clinic at the Chestermere Rec Centre on April 21 and 22.

A CRCA membership is required to sign up for little league.

The registration fees for all divisions include a Crushers t-shirt or jersey and hat. Catchers equipment, bats and balls are provided. Each player must provide their own glove, batting helmet, shoes/cleats and a protective cup. For Little League teams, it is also necessary to purchase a pair of Grey Baseball pants and a belt, navy as the preferred colour. Limited quantities and sizes available at the CRCA office.

The Crushers Baseball Steering Committee is a group of volunteers and there are positions available to make the organization run more efficiently. There is always opportunity to help coach, manage, scorekeep, count pitches, set up the field and help out in any other way.

To register for Crushers Baseball, contact Vicki Klinger at the CRCA at 403-272-7170 ext 224, fax 403-272-7178 or at recreation@chestermerecrca.com.
