Bradley Gaida believes passionately in faith and family. He grew up in a strong, active catholic family, with both parents teachers in Hanna. Gaida has been married for 15 years and he has one daughter. Chestermere has been home since 2001.

Gaida, who is a master electrician by trade, dedicates much of his time to community service. In the past he has been closely involved with his church by volunteering as Eucharistic minister; lector and mass coordinator; and as an original member and former chairperson of the Chestermere (St. Gabriel) church committee. As a 15 year member of the Knights of Columbus he has served in various roles, including Grand Knight, District Deputy, Financial Secretary, and Recorder.

Gaida firmly believes in the value of strong, patient leadership. Through collaborative efforts and his ability to work well with others, he believes he would be a valuable member of the Catholic District team. Gaida explains that he has the ability to effectively steer people in the directions needed to reach the common goals.

Gaida was very involved in the formation of Our Lady of Wisdom 6 years ago. He is extremely proud to have served as School Council Chair during the fundraising and building of the new school playground and the momentous development of establishing its identity and sense of community. He was also involved in the process leading to the grade reconfiguration at St. Gabriel which took effect this school year.

Gaida has an incredible amount of admiration for the district and agrees wholeheartedly with what they are working towards. He is a strong proponent of Shepherd Leadership and hopes to see this continue to flourish as a foundation of the District. He looks forward to developing even more opportunity for dialog between school, family and parish. Gaida is a strong advocate for stable, predictable and flexible provincial funding and the importance of preserving Catholic Education. He firmly believes local Boards and their communities are the most effective decision makers.

Cheryl LOW – Calgary Catholic Trustee Wards 9/10 & Chestermere Candidate Profile

Cheryl Low is an Alberta born and raised Catholic who has a passion for education. Low and her husband are residents of Chestermere and together they have two sons who are both educated in the Calgary Catholic School District.

Low believes in the value of hard work, community and faith. She has in fact worked hard and tirelessly for over 14 years as an active parent volunteer, School Council Chair, facilitator for Alberta School Councils’ Association and volunteer for Junior Achievement. She believes that as an ethical citizen it is her responsibility to be involved and give back.

Low is centered in Catholic values and combines that with her commitment and dedication to support excellence in education for each child. Low recognizes that every child is unique and she believes that every child deserves the opportunity for an education that prepares them to succeed in life.

Throughout her professional career with over 25 years in Information Technology, Low has gained strong skills in communication, leadership, strategic thinking, and fiscal responsibility. She takes pride in being a caring leader in all areas of her life and she looks forward to offering that quality as a dynamic school trustee.

Excellences in education and success for today’s students are Low’s main goals. Open and clear communication with all education stakeholders is a priority for Cheryl. She believes in the three E’s of Alberta Education; Ethical Citizenship, Entrepreneurial Spirit and Engaged Learners. Modeling and providing youth with the opportunity and understanding of what it means to be guided in faith, supporting innovation and self motivation, and maintaining the opportunity and environment for students to acquire a zest for learning are fundamental to their success. Low has actively advocated and participated in initiatives at the school, district, and government level to support and enhance student learning. Low will continue to strive for excellence in education for all of our students.

Overall, Low knows she has the desire, passion and time to commit to being an effective Calgary Catholic Trustee and hopes for your support.
