The Point - team photoCHESTERMERE – Something really exciting is about to happen in Chestermere. According to the lastest town survey, people wanted to have more access to local shopping and restaurants. Well the people’s wishes have just come true at least where more restaurants are concerned. As you may have noticed over the past few weeks the restaurant at the Lakeside Golf Club have posted signs saying it was closed due to renovations. There are some renovations taking place but they are more minor in nature. The big news is the restaurant itself is going through a total manager, menu makeover.
Brett Beninger, a young entrepreneur, who has a ton of experience at Joey Tomatoes (4 years), General manager at Lounge Burger in Calgary and an owner in the Boston Pizza here in Chestermere and a good acquaintance by the name of John Wilson, formerly of the prestigious Heritage Point Golf Course, saw a need and a great opportunity right here in Chestermere. They have combined forces and hired one of the top restaurant developers and consultants in North America to open a casual upscale dining experience that not only the whole family can enjoy, but also the golfers who spend some time at the 19th hole.
Beninger leased Bogey’s, at the Lakeside Golf Club in Chestermere and will be upgrading it into a casual-upscale restaurant which will be known as “The Point”. “It’s a melding of a neighbourhood pub and a relaxed but food-focused restaurant. A place to share a craft beer with the gang and a place you can also take a date or bring the family for a dining experience” stated Beninger.
Beninger has a long standing connection with some very knowledgeable, creative chefs from his previous businesses and has moved a chef and 2 sous chefs out to Chestermere to assist him with “The Point”. They will be working with Award winning celebrity Chef Travis “T-bone” Talbot, who has opened restaurants in New York and Boston as well as the Metropolitan Grill in Calgary. Talbot will also be working closely with Executive Chef Cameron Slade. Cameron is an enthusiastic, open-minded and talented individual who has some deliciously exciting ideas. Talbot’s portfolio is bubbling over with award-winning and long-standing concepts
Their goal is to create a menu offering that is accessible that emphasizes comfort foods with adventurous twists. The menu is upscale American pub food – great burgers, steaks, rotisserie chicken, slow roasted prime rib, gooey macaroni and cheese. “The Point” will be supporting local businesses by using fresh local products and crafting recipes from scratch.
Beninger has already booked 6 wedding receptions within a week whereas there was only 4 all of last year. The banquet rooms view is beautiful and unique in that it has 3 projectors and a private bar for your function.
The Point will be kicking off their Grand Opening with an Easter Brunch and an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids on the long weekend in March. The doors will open at 5:00 PM March 29th and you can make a reservation by calling 403-569-9122.
Golfers will enjoy “The Point” but even if you’ve never picked up a club before, you’ll still enjoy the dining experience in a beautiful setting overlooking the 9th & 18th greens and the pond.
It’s premium, it’s casual dining, it’s a hot spot, and it will win you over with great service, great food and supreme quality. “The Point” will be a culinary party destination for Chestermere and the entire Rocky View County – That’s The Point”
