Umpires Needed for Chestermere Rocky View Little League Baseball Program

CHESTERMERE – Once again District 3 is holding its Level 1/2 Clinic, using the National Umpire Certification Program, to prepare you for another season umpiring in Little League and at other levels in Calgary.
Why be an umpire? It keeps you active in baseball, you get to give something back to the game, you have “The Best Seat in the House”, you get to meet some great people and it is a great part-time Spring/Summer employment.
Chestermere Rocky View Little League (CRVLL) is looking for umpires for the 2013 Season. Qualified umpires are an important part of insuring safety, competitiveness, consistency, and fairness in our league. Our League needs to supply umpires for Seniors, Juniors, Majors/Nationals and Minors levels.
This year we will be back at the Chestermere Community Centre and will hold our two-day clinic on April 6 & 7. This is the only clinic District 3 will be having this year. As it is early in the season, well before the first games begin, there should be time to mark those dates off in your calendar.
Last season we provided umpires to cover over 150 games. Without game officials, it is the athletes and the sport program that suffers. It is critical for today, and the future, that new umpires are properly trained, each year, for all levels of competition. The role of a sport official is to ensure fair play. “If it isn’t fair, it isn’t fun.” Without parents, grandparents, players, player-alumni or friends of baseball coming forward to contribute to the sport program as an umpire, there will be games cancelled or played with insufficient or unqualified umpires.
This is the website which has both the registration form and some very useful information you can use to prepare for the clinic. ( www.llcalgaryumpires.ca/ ). Take the time to read through the pre-clinic information at the above website and then fill out your registration for the clinic. If you registered for the D3 clinic last year you can use the same user name and password to access the site. Your previous registration can be clicked on and then updated to make filling out the registration form fast and easy.
CRVLL will continue to pay premium rates to its Level 1/2/3 umpires. Umpires should have a good knowledge of baseball, be at least 12 years old. CCRVL will reimburse you for the course when completed.
What does it take? – Love of the game of baseball – Confidence and pride – Hustle, physical and mental alertness – A sense of fair play and impartiality and a willingness to learn and gain experience.
