For the past 4 years the Chestermere Knights of Columbus have been working hard organizing the springtime Surf-n-Turf (S-n-T) dinner and dance which is always a fun memorable experience for everyone who attends. Over the years it has proven to be one of Chestermere’s most successful fundraisers, bringing the community together for a truly remarkable and wonderful time.

Expected to be another sold-out the event this year, it will be held on Saturday, April.26 at the Chestermere Rec Centre. Like the name suggests, delicious steak and juicy lobster will be served with all the fixings and once again, the funds raised will help the local community and beyond.

With a mandate to serve and raise funds for local, national and international causes, numerous charities benefit from the proceeds of the gourmet lobster dinner each year. Their efforts combined with the communities support will not only go a long ways toward benefiting many people in need of wheelchairs all over the world, but they will make a difference even closer to home as well. The Knights have chosen to focus their efforts locally by supporting the completion of the Chestermere Family Bike Park.

“We wanted to support a local cause and feel the Bike Park will be a fun and healthy gathering place for the youth of Chestermere”, says Daren Farnel, Director of the Chestermere Knights of Columbus.

Through hard work and dedication to the success of the S-n-T, the Knights have established
an extremely well organized event which begins with cocktails in the gym which is magically transformed for the evening into a semi-formal cocktail lounge.

One of the ongoing goals of the event is to serve the approximately 300 people who attend annually, faster than the year before. Last year, the Knights were serving each person steak, lobster, veggies and salad in approximately 10 seconds. Now that’s fast and that’s efficient!

Dinner is followed by a quick paced live & silent auction championed by the very talented men from Elevate Auctions who add even more fun, humor and excitement to the event.

After the food has been enjoyed, the dance typically begins by 8pm. This year’s live band will surely be a crowd pleaser, “Room to Dance” always gives their best of 80’s & 90’s music. Throughout the evening there are fun giveaways; door prizes; 50/50; heads or tails; and even an evening snack to keep your energy up.

“We thank the supporters of the Surf and Turf event and look forward to another successful night of great food and fun on April 26 at the Chestermere Rec Centre” Farnel says.

You’re encouraged to join the local Knights of Columbus to help make this year’s event as successful as the last. Tickets are only $75.00 and can be purchased at M&M Meats in Chestermere.
