The new RCMP Detachment will be completed in December and open early in the new year. The RCMP are involved in the planning, confirming technical requirements and providing ongoing advice on design as it affects eventual operations. The actual building project remains a town led process with the contractor presently controlling the construction site.
The current RCMP building is too small for our current RCMP Detachment which is why it is being built. As it was the old Town Hall, it lacks some key features to a RCMP Station (i.e. holding cells). A new building has been designed to meet the needs of the detachment and will be in same location but attached to the existing Fire Hall.
