Who Has More Fun than the Red Ribbon Committee?

Though it is still months away ( Sept 12th and 13th) the Red Ribbon Committee is putting together the 2014 Event Booklet to be ready for distribution at Country Connections on May 3rd at the Community Centre. As one of the volunteers said last night at the first 2014 Red Ribbon meeting, ‘It’s the other volunteers that make this fun!” And I can’t agree more. Look at the happy faces!
But as the years have gone by since 1989, the Red Ribbon has grown! From just 800 entries in 2010 there were over 1300 in 2013…and that means that the band of volunteers –and fun–needs to expand accordingly. Monthly meetings are held during the spring, a few in the summer. These are the major commitments, plus some work in between on whichever task you choose of the many availalble. See Facebook Chestermere Country Fair link for opportunities. There are some talented bakers on this committee and each meeting is sweetened with some goodies from the hands of experts! Last week–butter tart squares, lemon squares and Besan Ki Burfi (a delicious North Indian fudge).
This year, the 25th Anniversary, there are two new competitions. Charity Pillow Case Challenge ( make a pillow case for charity TBA), and Zucchini Car Races ( Saturday) for the kids. Both of these events need helpers. Are you interested in either in sewing or having fun with the kids competing to see whose zucchini car will go the furthest?
If you would like to help, contact the Red Ribbon through Facebook as above or phone 403 272 7170 x 223 and speak with Carol, or email jpeddles@telus.net
Thanks again to the Anchor for getting on board again this year to provide major help support towards the production of the award winning Red Ribbon booklet!
