New trade show looks to help small business in Chestermere

As part of small business week in Chestermere, a brand new Small Business Trade Show is being launched to help both current business and those looking to open one.
“We’re looking to promote small business because Chestermere’s very entrepreneurial,” said Scotiabank Small Business Advisor Greg Moffatt who is organizing the trade show.
Moffat said that he has tried to build the trade show around Chestermere businesses to highlight the kinds of supports there are for small business owners right here in Chestermere.
“The point was to have a one stop shop where you could literally walk in the door with an idea for a business and you could walk out the door ready to turn the key,” he said.
Vendors at the show will be able to talk to entrepreneurs about everything from incorporating a business to payroll and accounting to insurance.
“We’ve got around 20 or so vendors,” said Moffatt.
He is hoping that for this first year of the trade show they will get at least 100 people out.
“Which would be a success in our mind,” he said.
The Small Business Trade Show is Oct. 20 in the MPP Room of the Chestermere Regional Recreation Centre. Doors open at 4 p.m.
Admission to the trade show is by donation to the Chestermere Regional Food Bank.
