Campaigning against the status quo

According to Khaleel Bhatti, the status quo at city hall has to change with this year’s municipal election.
“Public interest is being ignored,” said Bhatti.
The father of two enjoys gardening and traveling. He said that he is happiest at work when he is helping others which is why he has decided to run to serve Chestermere as Mayor.
“I would like to continue…serving others,” he wrote on his campaign website.
Bhatti see’s reigning in the high cost of living in Chestermere as the most import issue facing the new mayor and council.
“I am determined to protect citizen’s interest at every level of municipal government and running against the current status quo,” he said, “I am determined to make Chestermere affordable and great.”
As Mayor, Bhatti said he would work to focus the council agenda on several keys points to improve affordability.
Key changes he would like to see include; overhauling CUI, developing new business models and investment drivers in Chestermere, instituting strict financial & administrative controls, increasing the commercial tax base, reducing property tax, building a modern recreation facility, and encouraging more seniors and children’s programing.
Through his campaign, Bhatti’s plans to win voters confidence by speaking with residents to share his vision for the city and get their input.
“Chestermere deserves a new leadership which will serve with utmost respect, honesty & integrity,” said Bhatti.
“Chestermere should vote for me because I am the only one running against the current status quo,” he said, “Chestermere needs an out of the box thinker, Chestermere deserve honesty and integrity at every level of municipal government.”
He has a diverse background in the private sector including experience as an economist, accountant, financial analyst, entrepreneur, business adviser, mortgage specialist and realtor.
“Good Governance requires determination, proper-education, executive experience, honesty, integrity, people’s skill, and emotional intelligence.
“I have it all above and I can win hearts and minds of my neighbors with top quality service,” he said.
Bhatti strongly encourages everyone in Chestermere to get out and vote on Oct. 16.
“Please show your support against current status quo,” he said, “nothing will be changed unless you all come out and vote for it.”
