Combating racism in Alberta

Minister seeking input from Albertans on what the government should do about racism

Education Minister David Eggen is looking to hear from Albertan’s about how the provincial government can help Albertans who experience racism.
Interested Albertans have until Sept. 22 to complete an online survey available at alberta.ca/inclusive-alberta.
The request comes after Minister Eggen has already met with 60 community organizations to get their input on the best way to combat racism in the province.
“After meeting with a wide range of organizations, I am in awe of the knowledge, passion and commitment they have shown in addressing racism and promoting diversity and inclusion.
“This is our Alberta; it belongs to each and every one of us and we will work together to make lives better,” he said.
Minister Eggen was tasked in July to gather community input on how the provincial government can help combat racism in Alberta.
Since then, Eggen has been engaging in conversation with community groups throughout the province that represent a diverse cross section of the population.
These consultations will be continuing into the fall.
The consultations will culminate with a report and recommendations to be delivered to the Premier on ways address racism and promote inclusion and diversity in the province.
