The basketball season is now over for all teams. It concluded last weekend with the Senior Girls participating in the 4A Provincial Championships, in Medicine Hat.

LADY LAKERS SENIOR GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Lakers finished off a highly successful season with a trip to Medicine Hat for the ASAA 4A Provincial Championships.  They went in ranked # 13 out of the 16 teams at the tournament.  Their first game was against the 4th ranked Raymond Comets.  Always a tough contender, the Lakers found themselves down only 2 points at half.  Raymond turned on the scoring in the 3rd and finished the game with an 81 to 53 victory. Kasey Haasen led the way with 19 points and Olivia Armstrong helped out with 10. The next game for the Lakers was against the host team Medicine Hat High. Again, they were close at half, down 35-29.  The team ended up losing 61-49.  Kendal Russell was high scorer with 16 points.  Kasey Haasen had 13 points and 12 rebounds.  The last game of the tournament the Lakers played Lloydminster Comprehensive.  The team shot the ball very well and outscored Lloydminster 93-23.  Kasey Haasen had 23 points, Ashlyn Sendecki hit 6 three pointers and finished with 20 points.  Kendal Russell, Olivia Armstrong and Camren Longstaff all were in double digits as well.  It was a great way to finish the season and the high school careers for 11 of the 13 players. Thanks to the coaches who contributed so much to the success of the team.

It is an end of an era for this group of seniors. Many have played together since they were in the 4th and 5th grades. They have had success at the community, club, middle school and high school levels. This group leaves a legacy of excellence that will be tough to duplicate. Best wishes to all of the seniors in whatever they choose to do in the future.
