Chestermere Country Fair Scarecrow Contest

With the summer weeks flying by and Fall fast approaching it’s time to look at the hustle and bustle of the 2012 Chestermere Agricultural Society Country Fair on Saturday, September 8, 2012. Preserves are being made, flowers and vegetables tended with care, legos stacking, crayons coloring and cameras creating beautiful works of art, not to mention the floats, horses, and bikes preparing for the parade. Then just when you think you are ready, something NEW enters the limelight. One of this year’s new events is the 1St Annual Scarecrow Contest which is sponsored by the Chestermere CIBC Bank. Everyone is invited to join in the fun this year and enter the 1st Annual Scarecrow contest! Scarecrow making is a terrific project for families, groups, neighborhoods, companies and organizations to enjoy and there is no cost to enter. You don’t need to be a good artist or a carpenter to make a great scarecrow; you just need some imagination and a willingness to have fun! Visitors to the Fair will be able to view and vote for their favorite entries from 11 – 3 pm at the Rec Centre. Put your Scarecrow in the parade on your float and then drop him or her off at the grounds!
There are 4 categories to enter:
-Kids (Ages 12 and under)
-Families/Neighborhoods
-Not for Profit Groups/Clubs/Organizations
(The above categories will receive cash prizes)
-Businesses and Services
(The above category will receive a 1st Prize Plaque)
If you, your family, your group, your business would like to participate in this exciting new addition to the Country Fair you may get your entry form and rules online at http://www.chestermerecrca.com on the Country Fair page.
