School starts this week and we are excited about getting into the full swing of the fall sports season. We are looking to field some very competitive teams in 2012-2013.
COWBOYS FOOTBALL
The Cowboys have had a week’s worth of practice and have made some good progress. On Friday the team hosted the very tough Crescent Heights Cowboys from Medicine Hat. A number of special team errors and turnovers caused an early hole for the Cowboys and they never recovered. Down 50-0 at the half the boys had a better second half giving up only one touchdown. The team gets back to practice on Tuesday and will have three practices before hosting the Rocky View Jamboree on Friday. Each team will have 5 mini games in the jamboree. This will help us prepare for the league opener in Springbank on the 14th. We have a lot of work to do but we have some good young players that will be very good.
VARSITY GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL PRE-SEASON PRACTICES
The Varsity Girls’ team will conclude their tryouts this week, on Tuesday and Friday. On Saturday they will participate in the annual Strathmore Invitational. Our girls look to be very strong this year and should have a great season.
VARSITY BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL PRE-SEASON PRACTICE
The Varsity Boys’ will conclude their tryouts on Wednesday after school and Thursday at 5:30. Any boys interested just show up for practice.
JV VOLLEYBALL
JV Girls’ and Boys’ Volleyball tryouts will take place on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, from 3:45-5:30. Practices will be in the Wilson Gym.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Girls’ soccer tryouts will take place this week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday after school. The team was very young last year and should have a strong team this year.
GOLF AND CROSS COUNTRY
Students interested in golf or cross-country listen for announcements at schoool for practice dates. These will likely start in one week.
