LANGDON – Whether they will be working hard to make the audience laugh or cry, the talented individuals that make up the Langdon Theatre Association (LTA) group promise not to disappoint during their final performances of the season.

Four groups of young actors, ranging in age from six to 17-years-old, will be taking to the stage at the Easterbrook Theatre on April 20 and 21 to wrap up the 2011/2012 season, which is actually the LTA’s 10th season.

LTA chair Melissa McAllister said that everyone is excited to hit the stage to celebrate ten years and another successful season.

“We ended up getting a really good venue this year, and we have access to it for a week so we can spread things out and be prepared in terms of practicing and dress rehearsals,” she said. “It will be nice for everyone as things will be less panicked, and we have time to set everything up without being rushed.

“It’s going to work out really well, we are excited.”

The four plays this year are “The Frog Prince and Princess Brat”, “Laughing Stock – A Comedy in One Act”, “Smarty Pants” and “Anger Management, Lazy Eye, and Juice Box.”

The plays are carefully selected by the instructors, who get to know the kids as the season progresses, and make the decision on which play to go with in terms of the personalities and levels of experience of the performers in the group. The instructors will come up with a few play choices before presenting it the board, which is made up of parents, who then read the scripts and vote on which one will work best for the kids.

McAllister said that all four plays are well worth coming out to see, and that the kids can’t wait to show them off.

“It’s crunch time now and everything is high pressure, so everyone is excited,” she said. “The kids have worked really hard and they are really talented, and our instructors are professionals, so coming out and seeing these performances will be just as good as going to any other play.”

McAllister said that the support from the community has always been great, and they hope to see the same great turnout again this year.

Friday April 20 will feature “The Frog Prince and Princess Brat” and “Laughing Stock”, and Saturday April 21 will feature “Smarty Pants” and “Anger Management, Lazy Eye, and Juice Box.”
The performances will be at the Easterbrook Theatre, at A3, 2633 Hochwald Avenue SW in Calgary. Tickets are $10 per adult and $5 per child.

General Seating is in effect. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with performances beginning at 7. Latecomers will not be admitted during a performance.
