“You are not going to win, so don’t even ask what the ticket is for, just give me five bucks!” Gail Smith’s approach to selling raffle tickets to her fellow staff members may be lacking in style, but it was not lacking in luck for Kent Kinsman who could only come up with two of the five bucks needed to purchase the ticket. Kinsman, a teacher in Calgary, is the father of three children aged 3 to 8 who were ecstatic when Daddy advised them he had won the Mountainview Retreat by Cedar Summit Premium Playsets.
The play structure, featuring an upper clubhouse, rope ladder, climbing rock wall, crowsnest, Twist’N’Ride tube slide, and swings is valued at $1400. The play structure was donated to the Chestermere Lions’ Club, by Real Estate Agent, Corinne Watson of CIR Realty.
The Lions managed to raise funds through this venture and would like to thank all the friends of the Lions who purchased a ticket. The Lions would also like to thank Patrick Watson, Dean Mathison and Morris Luchka for helping to assemble and deliver the structure to the lucky winners home.
The structure will also be enjoyed by members of the Kinsman dayhome; Sam, Alexis, Nolan, Hayden and Logan are all very excited too! When asked if he plans on repaying Smith for the ticket, he said he was doing it in installments!
