EVENT REPORT:
Tuesday, August 28th -5:00pm THE “GREAT POTATO BAKE”
We are happy to report that this was yet another hugely SUCCESSFUL event for the Whitecappers. Close to 90 people came out to chow down on the biggest baked potatoes this side of Texas! Thanks to the experience of Gail & Arthur Christensen, who have put on Potato Bake events in Arizona, we were treated to perfectly baked spuds with of choice of 8 toppings. I took only 3 toppings on mine and still had trouble finishing my whole potato, a meal in itself! With frozen ice cream treats at the end of the meal, no one could possibly complain that they didn’t get their $5’s worth.
Then, to make the evening even more worthwhile, we got to listen to the live music of Dana McCullough/ Elvis Presley, and not your stereotypical impersonator! Dana‘s talent plus his obvious love of Presley’s music was all that he needed to perform historical rock n roller’s tunes. If you closed your eyes, you’d swear you were listening to Elvis himself. There was a great connection for many who attended; they knew Dana’s father Ernie McCullough, “Ernie & the Golden Rockets” entertained for many over the years.
I echo the hopes of a lot of people I talked to at this event when I say, “I sure hope this is the first of many “Annual Great Potato Bake” events!

The Whitecappers’ office is open every Monday 10:00am till 1:00pm
Address: 201B West Chestermere Drive (South end of the Rec. Centre)
Office phone # 403-235-2117 (leave us a message if we aren’t there.)
If you haven’t renewed your membership, this would be an opportunity for you to do so; stop by for a coffee and do up your paperwork at the same time.
