Breastfeeding Support as Near as Your Library

Many breastfeeding problems –milk supply, soreness, baby fussiness–can be avoided if a mother is well informed about breastfeeding. La Leche League Canada Alberta/NWT has just provided that very information for Alberta families with its recent donation of 300 copies of the most recent edition of the best-selling book, The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding to library branches –one of which is now in Chestermere Public Library.

It’s no secret that breastfeeding is the normal, healthy way to nourish and nurture your baby. Dedicated to supporting nursing and expectant mothers, the internationally respected La Leche League has set the standard for educating and supporting mothers in this natural art for generations. Now in its 10th edition, this classic bestselling guide has been retooled, refocused, and updated for today’s mothers and lifestyles. Real–mom wisdom, expert information, and proven strategies for breastfeeding at every stage.

To quote David Suzuki, ” A baby nursing at a mother’s breast… is an undeniable affirmation of our rootedness in nature.” And though breastfeeding is natural, it is not always easy. La League League publications such as the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding and La Leche League Canada Leaders both provide the information and encouragement to help mothers and families reach their breastfeeding goals.

To see for yourself why this book is a best seller, find a copy right here at the Chestermere Library. And for answers to questions from an accredited LLLC Leader come back to the library on the 4th Thursday of every month, 6:30pm -8pm for the Chestermere La Leche League Canada support group. (Next meeting February 28th). Moms, babies, dads–all are welcome. Breastfeeding support is a family affair. For information call 272-3764 or e-mail jen@LLLC-alberta.ca
