flood photo1

Manager from Brookfield Homes Construction Department Grant Revak and six fellow workers offered their help for the flood victims in Rideau area and helped clean out some of the flooded basements. They were so appreciated at the time of their arrival that tears flowed down the cheeks of the residents. They all knew that they had a lot of work ahead of them but he said it wasn’t a problem as those “Tears ” were enough for all of them to get working. They were glad they cleaned up some of the basements and
were glad they made some of the victims day a little brighter.

Chestermere resident, Deanna Thompson pictured transferring one of many chickens she helped rescue during the first day of flooding. She was instrumental is setting up the rescue efforts of animals in rural areas, working closely with the residents in the emergency center. In the days that followed they would rescue horses from the raging river, take pigs out in a boat along with dogs, cats and even a tortoise. After the waters had subsided she continues to dedicate her time to help residents. Along with her were many volunteers helping the animals because “Pets are family too”.
