Chestermere/Langdon Oilmen’s Association

CHESTERMERE – They say when you’ve got to get something done, give it to the busiest person and they’ll see it through to the end. Well Alex Halat has to be one of the busiest guys in town and sure enough he has been hard at work organizing another group of people to do some fundraising in Chestermere and Langdon.
Halat has founded a group called the Chestermere/Langdon Oilmen’s Association and has already recruited in the vicinity of 100 people to participate in 8 fundraising ventures. The group met upstairs in the Chestermere Recreation Centre Lounge February 26th and quickly reviewed the agenda while enthusiasts stepped up to volunteer their time to help organize the proposed events such as a motorcycle ride, golf tournament and Christmas Party just to name a few.
Halat works in the oil industry and is well connected to others in the same business but he and his teammates are also known for the Oilympics Hockey that played the World’s Longest Hockey Game in Chestermere in May 2012 and donated $1.7 million to the Alberta Children’s Foundation.
The Chestermere/Langdon Oilman’s Association fundraising activities will be channeled through the Chestermere Regional Community Development Foundation. The Foundation offers a means for individuals and groups to donate funds that will contribute to the construction of large scale social infrastructures. Some potential initiatives include: Youth programs and services; perhaps a Youth Centre, Seniors Housing, Health services and Volunteer Development.
