East Chestermere Drive Stolen Boat and Trailer

The Chestermere RCMP are currently investigating a theft of a boat and trailer from a residence along the 700 block of East Chestermere Drive, Chestermere, Alberta. Sometime between July 7, 2013 at 9:30 p.m. and July 8, 2013 6:00 a.m., a ski boat and trailer were stolen from the residence while stored on the driveway. The boat is described as a white 1991 Glascon 160. Hull identification number 3H4575. The trailer is white with stripes down the side bearing a vehicle identification number 1ZE1AEU18MAF3**** .

Chestermere, Alberta Dumpster Fire in the Parking area at 371 Marina Drive

On July 12, 2013 at approximately 3:15 p.m. Chestermere RCMP and the Chestermere Fire Department responded to a fire in the parking area at the townhouse complex situated at 371 Marina Drive in Chestermere, Alberta. There are two dumpsters located in an open but covered structure. The north dumpster was set on fire. The building that houses the dumpsters sustained some fire damage. If not for the quick actions of the Chestermere Fire Department there would have been more fire damage to this structure and potentially other adjacent property.

The actual cause of the fire has yet to be determined. The nature of this fire is a concern for the Chestermere RCMP and the criminal investigation remains active. Witnesses stated youths on bicycles were observed in the area shortly before the dumpster fire was discovered.

Strathmore, AB Two vehicle collision on Highway #1

On Wednesday July 10, 2013 at approximately 23:46 Hrs, Strathmore RCMP Detachment, Strathmore Fire Department and Alberta Health Services responded to a two vehicle collision in the eastbound lanes of Highway #1, west of Strathmore, Alberta.

A Ford F-150 had allegedly been traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes, and collided with an eastbound Dodge Caravan. The driver of the Dodge Caravan sustained serious potentially life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital via STARS.

The driver of the Ford F-150, a 46 year old male, was arrested on scene and charges are pending in relation to the incident.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision.

Wheatland County, Alberta Possession of Stolen Box Truck

On July 8, 2013 at approximately 15:00 Hrs, Strathmore RCMP Detachment responded to a complaint of a located stolen motor vehicle. Police were advised by the owner that his vehicle had been stolen from Calgary City earlier in the day, and he had located it in a rural area west of Strathmore, Alberta.

A male suspect was observed abandon the vehicle, at which point Strathmore Detachment Members initiated containment of the area. With the assistance of RCMP Calgary Police Dog Services, the male suspect was located and apprehended.

Strathmore RCMP continues to investigate the incident and charges are pending against the male subject.

**** UPDATE – July 11, 2013 ****

The Strathmore RCMP have charged 36 year old Chestermere, Alberta resident, Dax SEYMOUR, with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000, Driving while Disqualified, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight from Peace Officer, Obstruction of Peace Officer, Mischief under $5000, and Failing to Obey a Traffic Control Device. SEYMOUR has been released from custody to appear in Strathmore Provincial Court on July 16, 2013.

3 Vehicle Fatal Collision

On July 15, 2013, at approximately 12:30 P.M., Beiseker RCMP and Airdrie Rural RCMP assisted by Alberta Health Services and the Acme, Rosebud, Carbon, Linden and Rockyford Fire Departments all responded to a 3 vehicle collision at Highway 21 and Highway 9 in Beiseker, Alberta. A transport truck believed to be traveling North Bound on Highway 21 collided with a Honda Civic traveling East bound on Highway 9. The two said vehicles then collided into a parked pickup truck. Two workers doing highway maintenance were subsequently hit by the vehicles.

One adult male has been confirmed deceased on scene and an adult female has been air lifted by STARS air ambulance in critical condition. The occupant of the Honda Civic was transported by ground ambulance for his injuries, and the driver of the transport truck suffered minor injuries and was not transported.

The RCMP Calgary Collision Re-Constructionist is on scene and is continuing to investigate. No charges have been laid at this time, alcohol does not appear to be a factor. Delays are expected in the area of Highway 21 and Highway 9 while officers conduct the investigation.

The identity of the deceased male will not be released until notifications have been completed. Police are asking for assistance from possible witnesses. If you have any information on this incident please contact the Airdrie RCMP at (403) 945-7200 or the Beiseker RCMP at 403-947-3240.
