This weekend, the North Bow Community Facility Board (NBCFB) launched its first fundraising campaign to raise $5 million needed in order for the next phase of the Langdon Community Campus plan to move ahead and continue to refine the Master Site Plan.

Formed in 2003, this group is comprised of volunteer community members with the mandate to lead the development of new recreation facilities in the Bow North Recreation Area.

The Langdon Community Campus is a 45-acre site SW of Langdon which was purchased in 2006 in conjunction with Rocky View County and the Rocky View School Division.

Currently in Phase II of the project, the NBCFB is preparing for a fundraising campaign to initiate site preparations on the 45-acre site and implement the first recreation spaces. Plans for this phase include quad baseball diamonds and three soccer/multi-use playing fields.

Future phases of the campus may also include the creation of fitness/wellness spaces, child play area, and community centre, meeting rooms, walking track, indoor aquatic centre, library and Langdon’s first high school.
Members of the volunteer Board of Directors have been knocking on doors in Langdon for the last 2 weeks, talking to residents and creating awareness for the importance of this project. “The positive feedback we have been getting is overwhelming” says Corrie Carrobourg, one of the founding members of the NBCFB.
Corrobourg’s long term vision is to have community facilities that will offer families multiple opportunities to be involved in fitness and recreational activities.
The campaign was kicked-off with a Field Day in Langdon Park on Saturday, September 14 and the NBCFB invited out the entire community to not only learn more about the future Langdon Community Campus but also to enjoy entertainment on the Calgary Stampede Mobile Stage. Performances included theatre groups, martial arts, dance groups, and a local choir.

The NBCFB encourages everyone in the Langdon community to support these new developments through your thoughts and ideas, financial contributions and volunteer support.
