The upcoming Firefighters Gala will not be your average fundraising dinner. Tailored towards the ladies, this promises to be an incredibly entertaining event where the Chestermere Protective Services will launch their very own, brand new Firefighters Calendar.

At $75 per ticket, the evening will begin at 5:00pm with champagne cocktails followed by what I’m sure will be one of the best live auctions Chestermere has ever seen.

Ladies, this will be your chance to bid on your favorite firefighter who will act as your tables very own waiter! And what’s even better is that it’s all for a good cause so you can’t go wrong.

The 1st annual Firefighters Gala will raise funds in support of the Chestermere School Breakfast Program run by the Rocky View School District. The firefighters first became involved in the ‘Food for Thought’ breakfast program when they were invited to help the 100% parent volunteer run initiative to prepare and hand out food to the students at a local school.

According the Rocky View Schools Website, providing breakfast to students has shown to improve classroom behavior and school atmosphere. Menus are based on Alberta Nutritional Guidelines and include options like Nutella & banana wraps, juice and yogurt.

“When we learned of the incredible commitment these parent volunteers make by planning, shopping, preparing and serving nutritional snacks 5 mornings a week on only about $0.47 per child per day, we knew we had to get more involved” says Chestermere Senior Firefighter, Mark Romaniuk.

“We want to help ensure these kids start the day off right” states Firefighter Lisa Bischke. “They are our future.”

Held at the Chestermere Recreation Centre, the gala will include a dinner, champagne reception dance complete with DJ to keep the party rockin’, a silent auction and even a cigar & brandy lounge.

It will be a formal attire evening but don’t let that scare you – event organizing volunteers want to see the guests ‘let their hair down and have some fun’.

Firefighters are looking forward to this being an annual event where members of the Chestermere Protective Services can interact with residents within an enjoyable and classy affair while raising money for our local youth.

The planning committee is still collecting silent auction items so if you are able to donate you can call (403)207-7050 to make arrangements.

The gala will take place Saturday, October 5, 2013. Tickets can be purchased at Town Hall or by calling (403)207-7050. For more information visit www.chestermere.ca/firefightersgala.ca
