Happy New Year everyone and hope you had a great Christmas and holidays considering quite a few people were sick. Maxine & Hal Bartelen, Jeanine Jamieson and boys spent Xmas with Maxine’s side of the family, the Marshalls. Sharla & Kevin Desjardins and boys went on a skiing trip. A lot of people stayed home for the holidays. I went to Lethbridge on Friday before Xmas to see my first new Great Granddaughter , Ava Isabella who weighed in at 8lbs,. 2 ozs. & 22″ long and born on Dec. 18. Then Sunday I went to Drumheller to see my grandson & wife, Michael & Kryssy Sobiecki, Xmas day seen me at some friends and Boxing Day I attended supper at my oldest daughter’s in-law’s at Cluny .
James Nicholls went to Cuba for the holidays and while there he got engaged to Tarya Peletonen of Strathmore, Congratulations, a 2014 wedding is planned , Congratulations to Mike Bartelen & Amanda Comis who were married on Dec. 14. Also, congratulations to Nick & Tanis Head becoming parents for the first time to a boy, Kolten , 7 lbs. 5ozs. & 19′ long on Dec. 23 so had spend Christmas at the hospital. Just recently they moved to our Community and we like to welcome them.
Condolences to Anne Torgrimson and families on the passing of husband, father and grandfather before Christmas.
Lyalta’s Annual General Meeting is Jan. 20 with a supper at 6:00 pm sharp and meeting at 7:00 pm. Please let Kim Proust know if you are coming for supper before Jan. 15 so she can tell the caterer how many are coming. Reports are due then so please have them ready if you are a head of any committee. Membership fees are now due so please get them into Bev asap. Also, your hours of volunteering for credits are now due now and Colleen would sure appreciate them by the meeting.
Something, I read in another paper that I thought was cute was a quotable quote “Yesterday is a cancelled cheque. Tomorrow is a promissory note. Today is the only cash you have, so spend it wisely.” by Kim Lyons. That brings us to a thought for the day: Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens.
