St. Gabriel Rocks for a Cause

The recent mini ‘We Day’ performance at the St. Gabriel the Archangel School brought attention to a truly heartfelt cause. There were astonishing performances from many of the students who attended We Day from SGA. In addition, there were multiple speeches at this Mini We Day event, along with 3 bands performing; the St. Gabriel the Archangel Wind Ensemble, a high school student rock band, and a teacher band. They weren’t only there to put on a show for the people attending – they were there to spread a message.
The We Day team told the story of a young boy, who at age 12 started an organization larger than anyone at the time could have imagined. The name of this boy was Craig Kielburger, and along with the help of his brother Marc, and a few of their friends, they started ‘Free the Children’. This organization provided care to many children across seas in need of serious help. Free the Children finally succeeded in bringing attention to the government of the United States of America, where it was awarded its rightful recognition.
Free the Children has to date, created over 650 schools and education systems for kids with the desire for the proper education they deserve. They have aided many families and warmed the hearts of many. Most of this charity’s funds come from donations, which are from multiple individuals worldwide who want to make a change. This proves that one person CAN make a difference, no matter how small and unimportant you think you are. That is why St. Gabriel the Archangel School is having a penny drive and is hoping to lend a hand in any way they can. 25 dollars in pennies can bring clean water to one person in Africa for life! Pennies will be collected at the school until the end of February.
What a selfless cause!
