Thanks to the help of Rosemary Clysdale, Chestermere Red Ribbon Country Fair Baking Preserving Coordinator, the Red Ribbon Competition will be providing not only cash prizes for winners but also once agin, ribbons from a variety of commercial sponsors and the chance to enter national competitions for jams, jellies, preserves and best-in-show.
Full details of the competition can be found in the Red Ribbon Booklet found on the Chestermere Country Fair Facebook page. All entries are judged on appearance, taste, texture, creativity of recipe and appearance. To win any of the Bernardin awards use the Snap Lid with your entry as proof of purchase or in the Bernardin Jam/Jelly award remember to save your Bernardin Pectin package or UPC as proof of purchase. If you are entering the Gift Pack Competition year will include tasting so please include a few extra jars of your home canning entries for the taste component, also give an itemized list of contents. Not to forget Certo, they also have a prize for best jam–once again, a proof of purchase assures your entry will be judged.

Winner of the Bernardin Jam/Jelly award was Leanne Perry, there was no winner of Bernardin Snap Lid Mason Jar Creative Craft Award for decorative or functional homemade craft using Bernardin mason jar and/or 2-piece Snap Lid in 2012. The Bernardin Best of Show Award judges’ choice from among first place winners that have used an entry submitted in Bernardin Mason Jar and Snap Lid winner for 2012 Winner was Andrea Conway.
