From January 28th to February 2nd the Chestermere and Indus Curling Clubs hosted the 6th Annual Combined Mixed Bonspiel. There were 32 teams entered in this event which was higher than in past years, possibly because this year the event was promoted as a Modified Mixed Bonspiel. The qualifications to enter were that only the Skip and Third must be of opposite genders. We did have some teams enter with three women and one man, as well as some teams with three men and one woman, although the majority of teams were still true mixed teams. Teams alternated their draws between the two ice rinks. The two clubs have a terrific relationship, and great fun was had by all! In the end it was the Tustian team from Indus that captured the A Event consisting of Mark Tustian, Donna Tustian, Mark Paddison & Karen Paddison. The McCloy Rink from Indus won the B Event consisting of Bryon McCloy, Karen Szakaly, George Szakaly & Heather Tudor. And the Woronuk rink from Chestermere took the C Event consisting of Nick Woronuk, Marla Forth, Ron Forth & Sharon Woronuk.
