Egg-citing day at Lakeside Golf Club

Even the Easter Bunny was spotted at the annual fundraiser

Nearly 250 children enjoyed the 3rd Annual United Way Easter Egg Hunt at the Lakeside Golf Club

Despite the wet heavy snow that blanketed the ground and colder than average temperatures, the United Way 3rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt was a popular event.
Lucky for organizers, by the time the egg-citing Easter egg hunts began, the snow had stopped falling and the sun was shining, making way for more smiles and fun.
The event at Lakeside Golf Club in Chestermere saw close to 250 children participate over two days on April 19 & 20. The snow didn’t even stop the Easter Bunny himself from partaking in the festivities, he was there with a smile welcoming families at registration and handing out prizes to lucky youngsters.
Last year the same event saw just under 200 children.
After registering, participants had the opportunity to decorate their Easter baskets before heading out to find the colorful eggs with the help of the Chestermere Girl Guides and Pathfinders who were there to lend a helping hand.
The eggs could then be redeemed for toys, chocolate and other prizes.
This year, the United Way partnered with The Point Restaurant which offered an Easter Brunch over the weekend so that the eager hunters and their families would not go hungry after the hard work of hunting for eggs.
United Way organized the hunt as a fundraiser with all funds raised going toward organizations in the community such as Camp Chestermere, Formative 5, Whitecappers, Accredited Supports to the Community, Synergy, and the Soccer Club.
Lori Brookhouse, Chair of the Chestermere United Way Partnerships Committee says it takes over three dozen volunteers both behind the scenes and the day of the events to organize the special occasion.
“I want to send out a special thank you to all of the sponsors for the event. We had the largest number of sponsors this year with very generous donations to help supply the bunnies, tags, ribbon, baskets, activity books, and coffee for the event. Our sponsors were ATCO Gas, I Love Chestermere, CUI, Karen Gonzales, Remax, Tim Horton’s, Newsy Neighbor, The Chestermere Anchor, Mary Moojelsky, Mighty Neighborly, The General Store, Indus Graphics, and Lifepath Wellness.”, said Brookhouse.
