Friends of Chestermere East Lake School

Wine & Cheese Fundraiser

This was the first fundraiser held by the Friends of Chestermere East Lake School Society at the Chestermere Landing. The purpose of this benefit was to raise as close to the $211,000 needed to build a new playground at the new school in Kinniburgh.

Wine and cheese, as the name indicated, was abundant at the fundraiser and everyone mingled and wrote their bids.

As a silent fundraiser each donation had a sheet beside it on which interested parties wrote their names and the amount they are willing to pay for the item. Throughout the evening participants can continue bidding, that is, until the 8:59 pm cut off. The last person to put their bid, the highest bid, won the prize. In a funny way a silent auction is quite similar to eBay.

Donations:

•Wine organizer with 8 bottles of wine.

•Calgary Flames tickets.

•Two bottles of Burrowing Owl wine and hair product.

•Man’s best friend beer.

•Rocky mountain chocolate basket.

•Body shop large basket.

•Girls birthday basket

•Mind Body Connection gift certificate.

•Medium body shop basket.

•Wine basket.

•Field Stone Fruit wines & SM body shop basket.

•$25 Dockside gift certificate and wine basket.

•Amanda Leslie family photo shoot.

•Large body shop basket.

•Scentsy gift basket.

•The Chestermere Anchor Advertising

•The SufsUp – lessons, rentals + sales lessons for 4 people.

•Five passes to Calgary Rec Centre and body shop basket.

•Framed picture from Bruce McAllister.

•Synergy summer sampler.

•Langdon summer sampler Synergy Program.

The event raised about $5000 which leaves $206,000 left needed to build the new playground. It wasn’t a large or significantly publicized event but thank you to all who attended and gave generously. Unless another fundraiser can be organized the construction of the playground will rely on corporate funding and/or personal donations. Let’s keep our fingers crossed so that the children of Chestermere can get a brand new jungle gym for their school.
