Sometimes, we need a break. Whether it be from the stress caused from work, family, friends, or school, a night out to relax with others is often all a person really needs in order to calm their nerves once again. Jody Nakoneshney, owner of The Lakeshore–Esthetics and Tanning, decided to host a night of treats and pampering to offer just that.

”It’s always nice to have a relaxing night with the girls,” says Nakoneshney, “this event allows us to get out of the house for a bit and treat ourselves.”

A handful of ladies signed up for and arrived at the event. Some already new each other, and some met for the first time. Different kinds of wine were lined up on the table and were ready to be paired with many delicious treats like chocolate strawberries, white chocolate, and red velvet cake. Once everyone had arrived, Nakoneshney began to explain about the wine tasting process and the reasoning behind the different pairing of treats.

For enjoying a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon or Port, the guests were told to also snack on treats like dark bittersweet chocolates. For the Rieslings and dessert wines, the perfect match was a milk chocolate. After that, the guests were encouraged to taste a Rosé, which was paired with white chocolate. The tasting went from the lightest to darkest, and each dessert that Nakoneshney had prepared matched perfectly with the proper wine.

However, this was only a small part of the fun that Nakoneshney had planned for the evening. Periodically throughout the testing, groups of three to four ladies were taken to receive manicures. As the night progressed and the women became more familiar with one another, chatter and laughter echoed throughout the shop.

The Lakeshore offers many kinds of services during its open hours such as body treatments, massage therapy, hair removal, and tanning. In one of the treatment rooms, tattoo artist Tim Ashman is currently working out of until his tattoo shop, ‘Obsidian Rose Tattoo’, is ready to open. The tattoo shop will be located between Sunnyz Vietnamese shop and the Canadian Pizza Unlimited shop.

It is very important to create a positive and calming vibe in a spa, and to achieve this Nakoneshney has created a beach house theme to recreate that calming atmosphere. Full with clever pictures and true-to-the-theme props, customers have the opportunity to feel like they are being pampered beachside.

”Having an event such as this one allows me to receive feedback,” says Nakoneshney, “I want to know how people who come here feel about the mood, vibe, and service that my store provides.”
