Low nomination packages lead to delayed election date

Since the AGM of the CRCA and the Ag Society took place on January 22, all sights have been set on February 23rd, which is when the election of board members was to happen. However, that has now changed due to the lack of people throwing their hat in the ring.
The deadline for nominations was originally set for February 5th, but due to the lack of nominating packages received, the elections committee decided to push that cut-off date to February 12th – which then lead to the moving of the election date to March 2nd.
A member of the Elections Committee confirmed that it is the Ag Society board that is not getting people to step up. This board requires 12 people, however, it is a very low time commitment as it requires less than 10 hours a year.
“Both the CRCA and CAG – Chestermere Agricultural Society have been struggling to find and maintain board members and as a result there has been a lot of controversy over the ongoing operation of the centre. If you know someone that is passionate about ensuring our Recreation Centre continues to offer great events, programs and services to the children and adults in our community and is interested in becoming a board member, nomination packages are now available on the CRCA website at: www.chestermerecrca.com – applications can be dropped off at Our Lady of Wisdom in Chestermere or emailed to crcaelections@gmail.com. Thank you for your interest.” said the Nominations Committee.
If you are interested in putting your name forward for one of these boards, you may download the packages here http://www.chestermerecrca.com/2014-crca-chestermere-agricultural-society-annual-general-meeting/ and they will be accepted up to Feb 12th 2015.
