Historical Foundation Moving on With New Projects –Join Us!

STONE ARTIFACT Hammer

The regular meeting of the Chestermere Historical Foundation will be held on Tuesday March 10th at 6:30pm in the Chestermere Public Library. Many of you will know of the major project of restoring the 1952 Chestermere Cabin Owner’s fire truck. This is nearing completion and it is hoped that the nearly completed truck will be on display on Saturday June 6th at our yearly M&M BBQ fundraiser courtesy of Robin Impey. Meanwhile other projects have come along; placing Heritage Markers, partnering with Chestermere Middle School in their Social Studies Program (Mar 17th with final presentation on May 5th), gathering photos and recording Chestermere area archeological finds for Alberta Historic Resources Management (see photo example courtesy of Brad Follett), murals, recording oral histories of early residents, and working on ways to creatively display the various artifacts which have been acquired by CHF since inception in 2011. If you are interested in these projects drop in to one of the meetings. Membership is a good old fashioned price of $5 and entitles you to some of the member events during the year. More help is always needed! For a town with no old main street to preserve, no railway station to renovate–we have a lot of great history that needs to be celebrated and recorded. For more information on the work of CHF and for meeting times if you don’t make this one go to www.chestermerehistory.org For questions use the Contact Us link.
